California Rules of Court — Title 3
Civil Rules · Rules 3.1–3.2237 · 303 of 303 active rules built (100% of Title 3)
Title 3 of the California Rules of Court — the Civil Rules — governs how civil cases proceed in California's superior courts: filing and service, case management, discovery motions, law and motion practice, alternative dispute resolution, trial, and post-judgment enforcement. It is the companion procedural-rules layer to the Code of Civil Procedure, adopted by the Judicial Council under its own constitutional rulemaking authority rather than enacted by the Legislature. Browse the full text below, with the Judicial Council's own Advisory Committee Comments where published, and a plain-English summary for every rule.
