Rule 3.1549.Voir dire

Voir dire in an expedited jury trial has to fit inside a compressed schedule, and a written questionnaire is one of the simplest ways to save time at the courthouse. Rule 3.1549 encourages the parties to agree on a single joint questionnaire for prospective jurors rather than each side drafting its own, or relying entirely on oral questioning to surface the information both sides need.

The rule is an encouragement, not a mandate, but it fits the larger design of the expedited jury trial rules: wherever the parties can agree in advance on a shared tool, they save time that would otherwise come out of the strict hours allotted for trial under Rule 3.1550, including the time spent on jury selection itself.
