Cases outlast people, and this group says what happens when they do.
Rule 22.1 handles death, with a two-step clock — thirty days to note the death on the record, ninety days from that service to move for substitution. Rule 22.2 handles a party who becomes incompetent. Rule 22.3 handles a transfer of interest, and the default there is that nothing changes: the action continues by or against the original party unless the court directs otherwise. Rule 22.4 handles a public officer leaving office, and the successor is substituted automatically.
The one with teeth is Rule 22.1. Miss the ninety days and the action is dismissed without prejudice.

La Regla 22.1 atiende la muerte, con un reloj de dos tramos: treinta días para hacerla constar en el récord, noventa desde esa notificación para pedir la sustitución. La 22.3 atiende la transferencia de interés, y allí lo normal es que nada cambie: el pleito continúa por o contra la parte original salvo que el tribunal disponga otra cosa.
