In an action in which any part of the relief sought is a judgment for a sum of money or the disposition of any other thing capable of delivery, a party, upon notice to every other party and by leave of court, may deposit with the court all or any part of such sum or thing, to be kept by the clerk, subject to withdrawal, in whole or in part, at any time upon order of the court.
En un pleito en que cualquier parte del remedio que se solicite sea una sentencia mediante la cual se ordene el pago de una suma de dinero o la disposición de cualquier otra cosa que pueda ser objeto de entrega, una parte, previa notificación a cada una de las otras partes y con el permiso del tribunal, podrá depositar en el tribunal la totalidad de dicha suma o cosa, o cualquier parte de ésta, para ser retenida por el Secretario o la Secretaria sujeta a ser retirada, en todo en parte en cualquier momento por orden del tribunal.

A short, quiet rule that solves a practical problem: what to do with money or property while a dispute about it is decided.
It applies in an action in which any part of the relief sought is a judgment for a sum of money or the disposition of any other thing capable of delivery. Note "any part" — the whole case need not be about the money.
The conditions are two: notice to every other party, and leave of court. A party cannot simply hand money to the clerk.
What may be deposited is all or any part of the sum or thing. It is kept by the clerk, and is subject to withdrawal, in whole or in part, at any time upon order of the court.
The device is often paired with others. Rule 35.2 requires a deposit as the price of its cost-shifting. Rule 19 interpleader is the natural companion when several people claim the same fund — deposit it, and let them fight over it rather than over you.
Una regla breve y discreta que resuelve un problema práctico: qué hacer con el dinero o los bienes mientras se decide la disputa sobre ellos.
Aplica en un pleito en que cualquier parte del remedio solicitado sea una sentencia por una suma de dinero o la disposición de cualquier otra cosa susceptible de entrega. Note “cualquier parte”: no hace falta que todo el caso trate del dinero.
Las condiciones son dos: notificación a todas las demás partes y permiso del tribunal. No se puede simplemente entregar el dinero a la secretaría.
Puede consignarse toda o cualquier parte de la suma o la cosa. Queda bajo custodia de la secretaría y sujeta a retiro, total o parcial, en cualquier momento por orden del tribunal.
El mecanismo suele acompañar a otros. La Regla 35.2 exige la consignación como precio de su inversión de costas. La interpleader de la Regla 19 es su compañera natural cuando varias personas reclaman el mismo fondo: consígnelo y que litiguen entre ellas y no contra usted.
