Text size

The furnishing of such information in the course of a research project to the Illinois Department of Public Health, Illinois State Medical Society, allied medical societies or to in-hospital staff committees or their authorized representatives, shall not subject any person, hospital, sanitarium, nursing or rest home or any such agency to any action for damages or other relief.

Plain-English Summary

Furnishing information, in the course of a research project, to the Illinois Department of Public Health, the Illinois State Medical Society, allied medical societies, or in-hospital staff committees (or their authorized representatives) does not expose the person, hospital, sanitarium, nursing or rest home, or agency that furnished it to any action for damages or other relief.

The immunity complements Section 8-2101's confidentiality and Section 8-2102's inadmissibility rules by removing the liability risk that might otherwise discourage participation in the research and quality-review process those sections protect.
