Text size

Notice to any occupying claimant shall bind all those claiming from, by or through such occupying claimant, to the extent of such claim.

Plain-English Summary

This short section extends the reach of the notice described in 6-141 beyond the person directly notified. Notice given to any occupying claimant binds all persons who claim from, by, or through that occupying claimant.

That binding effect is not unlimited in scope; it applies only to the extent of the occupying claimant's own claim. Someone whose rights derive from the notified claimant is bound by the notice to the same degree as the claimant through whom they trace their interest, but not beyond what that claimant's own claim covers.
