Ejectment could, in theory, run on its own separate procedural track. This section chooses the opposite approach. It sets the time for filing complaints in ejectment actions equal to the time used in other civil cases, and it imports the general rules of pleading and practice that apply elsewhere in Illinois civil litigation.

That general import comes with a qualifier built into the same sentence: those ordinary rules apply "so far as they are applicable, and except as is otherwise provided by" Article VI. Where the following sections set a specific rule, such as the particular content required in an ejectment complaint or the specific mechanics of a verdict, that specific rule controls instead of the general civil practice default.

This section functions as the connective tissue for the rest of Article VI. It tells a reader that ejectment is not an isolated procedural island; it runs on the same civil practice rules as any other case, with Article VI supplying targeted departures where the ejectment action needs its own approach.
