§ 25-1649.Jurors; selection.

Section 25-1649 is an anchor provision. It states, in a single sentence, that in each of the county and district courts of Nebraska, the lists of grand and petit jurors are to be made up, and jurors selected for jury duty, in the manner prescribed in the Jury Selection Act. It does not itself describe that manner; it ties every court in the state to the single statutory process the rest of the Act lays out.

Because the section covers both grand and petit jurors, it reaches jury selection for criminal indictment proceedings and for the trial juries used in civil and criminal cases alike. A court cannot substitute its own local method for compiling jury lists or drawing jurors; §§ 25-1653 through 25-1661 and the sections that follow them supply the actual mechanics — the key number, the combined and master key lists, the qualification form process, and summoning — that every county and district court must follow.
