Plain-English Summary

This section supplies the form itself. A plaintiff seeking to proceed without paying court costs attaches an affidavit to the petition swearing, before the district court of the county, that the claim is just and that poverty keeps the plaintiff from giving security for costs. The statute reproduces the exact wording the affidavit must follow.

Section 923 backs this form with a penalty: anyone who swears to it falsely commits perjury.
