This section does one job: it names Sections 1 through 9 of the enacting act the "Uniform Child Witness Testimony by Alternative Methods Act." Frequently Asked Questions

What is the "Uniform Child Witness Testimony by Alternative Methods Act"?

The short title Oklahoma law gives to Sections 1 through 9 of the 2003 act governing when and how a child witness may testify by a method other than in-person, face-to-face testimony.

Does Section 2611.3 itself set out any procedures?

No. It only supplies the Act's name; the substance -- definitions, hearing procedure, and standards -- follows in the sections after it.

Why would Oklahoma need a separate act for child witness testimony?

Because testifying in open court, face-to-face with a defendant, can traumatize some child witnesses, and the Act sets out when a court can allow testimony by some other method instead.
