Plain-English Summary

This section doesn't create a right or set a procedure. It's a rule of construction, telling a court how to read the rest of the Uniform Child Witness Testimony by Alternative Methods Act: keep an eye on how other states that adopted the same uniform law apply it, and favor readings that keep Oklahoma's version in step with theirs.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does this section require a court to do?

When applying or construing the Uniform Child Witness Testimony by Alternative Methods Act, the court must give consideration to the need to promote uniformity of the law among the other states that have enacted it.

Why does Oklahoma law care about matching other states' interpretations?

Because this section is part of a uniform act -- text drafted for adoption across multiple states -- and courts are told to read it with that shared purpose in mind, not in isolation.

Does this section give a child witness any new right?

No. It's an interpretive instruction directed at courts, not a substantive protection for witnesses -- compare Section 2611.12, which does create a right.

Do other uniform acts include a construction clause like this one?

Yes, uniform acts commonly include a clause like this so that courts across enacting states interpret the same text the same way.
