Plain-English Summary

Section 60-201 opens Kansas's civil procedure article with two short jobs. Subsection (a) gives the whole article its name: courts and lawyers can cite it as the rules of civil procedure. Subsection (b) then sets its reach — it governs procedure in every civil action and proceeding filed in a Kansas district court.

That reach has one carve-out. Actions commenced under the code of civil procedure for limited actions follow their own separate procedure instead of this article. Everything else filed in district court falls under these rules.
