§ 1230.010.Title of Law

Every statute needs a name people can use in shorthand, and this is where Title 7 of the Code of Civil Procedure gets its own. Section 1230.010 declares that the whole title -- every chapter that follows, covering everything from the right to take property to how compensation gets paid -- may be called the Eminent Domain Law.

That name carries real weight in how the rest of the title reads. When later sections refer to "this title," as many of them do starting with § 1230.020, they mean the Eminent Domain Law as a unified body of law, not just the section in which the phrase happens to appear.
