Full Text of § 1162a

Text size

In any case in which service or exhibition of a receiver's or levying officer's deed is required, in lieu thereof service of a copy or copies of the deed may be made as provided in Section 1162.

Plain-English Summary

Some situations under this chapter require showing or serving a receiver's or levying officer's deed rather than a notice to quit — for example, after a court-supervised sale. This short section lets that deed be served the same way § 1162 already allows notices to be served, instead of requiring some separate procedure.

By tying deed service to the same personal-delivery, substituted-service, and post-and-mail options § 1162 already establishes, this section keeps the mechanics of this chapter consistent whether what's being served is a notice to quit or documentation of a sale.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is a receiver's or levying officer's deed served under this chapter?

The same way notices are served under § 1162 — personal delivery, substituted service plus mail, or posting plus mail.

Does this section create a new service requirement?

No. It applies only when service or exhibition of the deed is already required elsewhere, and supplies the accepted method for it.
