Plain-English Summary
Some statutes let a creditor turn a confessed judgment into a fully litigated one. This rule opens that chapter: it defines the terms the chapter uses and ties the procedure to the regular rules for a civil action, so the action runs on familiar tracks except where the chapter says otherwise.
