(P.B. 1978-1997, Sec. 26.)
Plain-English Summary
This section establishes the official roll of Connecticut attorneys. The statewide bar counsel forwards it to the clerk for Hartford county for certification, and that clerk keeps the roll. When an attorney is admitted in any other county, that county’s clerk must promptly certify the admission — with the date and the attorney’s residence — to the Hartford county clerk, the statewide bar counsel, and the administrative director of the bar examining committee.
When an attorney in any county is suspended, disbarred, resigns, is placed on inactive status, is reinstated, or is otherwise formally and publicly disciplined, that county’s clerk must promptly certify the action — with the date, the attorney’s residence, and a certified copy of the court order — to the statewide bar counsel and the Hartford county clerk, and must also notify them if an attorney in that county dies.
The Hartford county clerk then promptly notifies the clerks of the Superior Court and the clerk of the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut, at New Haven, of all suspensions, disbarments, resignations, placements in inactive status, retirements, revocations of retirements, or reinstatements.
