Text size

This article governs objections to a bond given in an action or proceeding.

Plain-English Summary

This short section is a scope-setter for the whole article: everything from here through § 995.960 addresses how a party objects to a bond given in an action or proceeding. Section 995.920 lists the grounds an objection can rest on, § 995.930 sets the form and timing, § 995.940 handles disputes over property value, § 995.950 governs the hearing, and § 995.960 tells the court what to do with the results.

By confining this article to bonds "given in an action or proceeding," the statute leaves bonds given outside litigation -- for a license or permit, for example -- to Article 10's separate procedure for determining insufficiency (§ 996.020) rather than this objection process.
