Full Text of § 801.7

Text size

Within thirty days after the issuance of the summons, the plaintiff shall post, or cause to be posted, a copy thereof in a conspicuous place on the property.

Plain-English Summary

Beyond serving named defendants, this section adds a physical notice step tied to the property itself. Within thirty days after the summons issues, the plaintiff has to post a copy of it somewhere conspicuous on the property.

That posting works alongside the recorded notice of pendency under § 801.5 and the published notice for unknown defendants under § 801.8, giving anyone with an interest in the property multiple ways to learn that an action affecting title is underway.
