§ 697.910.Applicability of Article

Articles 3 and 4 cover the judgment lien on personal property and the execution lien, but the enforcement-of-judgment law creates other liens too, through procedures found elsewhere in this title. Article 5 gathers the rules for continuation and transfer that apply across all of them.

This section defines the scope: it applies to liens created by an examination proceeding under §§ 708.110, 708.120, or 708.205, by a creditor's suit under § 708.250, and by a charging order under § 708.320. Each of those procedures is a distinct way of reaching a debtor's property or rights that doesn't fit neatly into either the judgment lien or the execution lien framework, and this article makes sure the resulting liens get consistent treatment when the underlying property is later transferred or encumbered.
