§ 1208.68.Redemption of Sold Aircraft
Title 4. Of the Enforcement of Liens · Chapter 5. Liens on Aircraft · Enacted 1953 · no amendments on record · Last verified July 29, 2026
Full Text of § 1208.68
Plain-English Summary
A completed lien sale isn't necessarily the end of the road for the legal owner. This section gives the owner a 20-day window after the sale to redeem the aircraft — get it back — by paying the full amount of the lien, all the costs and expenses the sale generated, and interest on that sum.
That interest runs at 12 percent a year, calculated from either the date the underlying amount became due or the date it was advanced, up through the date of repayment. Redemption is available regardless of whether the buyer at the sale was a third party or the lienholder itself.
